Ignition problems are more common than most people think — and they can range from a minor annoyance to leaving you completely stranded. A worn or damaged ignition barrel can make the key difficult to turn, cause intermittent starting issues, or fail altogether. In some cases, a snapped key inside the barrel makes the whole thing unusable.

Whatever the fault, we can diagnose and fix it on-site. We carry replacement barrels for a wide range of makes and models and can often complete the repair in a single visit.

Common Ignition Problems We Fix

• Stiff or sticky ignition barrel — key turns with difficulty or not at all
• Key snapped or broken inside the ignition
• Ignition barrel worn to the point the key no longer engages
• Immobiliser not recognising the key due to barrel or transponder fault
• Ignition turning but vehicle not starting (barrel/electrical fault)
• Seized barrel following attempted theft or forced entry

Repair or Replace?

In many cases we can repair the existing barrel — extracting broken keys, lubricating and adjusting worn components. Where the barrel is beyond repair, we supply and fit a replacement and ensure your existing key is coded to match, so you don't need a new key as well.
